Journalist describes surviving Kyiv drone barrage, twelve dead while sheltering underground

Annika Momrak, a 27-year-old NRK reporter known from previous programmes, is in Ukraine shooting an episode of "Urix x Annika." In an Instagram post she recounted that on her first night in Kyiv Russia carried out its largest recent assault, deploying more than 200 drones and various missiles, which resulted in twelve deaths. Continuous drone alarms forced her to seek refuge in a bomb-room in her hotel’s basement, even bringing her duvet to sleep.

She noted that the attacks hit parts of the city previously less targeted and highlighted the exhausting reality for residents. Despite the war entering its fifth year, Momrak observed how quickly Ukrainians have become accustomed to the danger, coining the term "war-life-balance" as life shifts between bomb shelters and normal activities. She added that after this assignment she plans to travel to the United States, the Middle East and Finland, and stressed the need not to forget the ongoing suffering.
