Journalist says senior military officers fear Imran Khan may be dead, claim unverified

According to journalist Wajahat Khan, three senior officers at Pakistan’s General Headquarters conveyed fears that former prime minister Imran Khan may have died, yet he stressed that the claim lacks independent verification. The remarks were made amid growing anxiety within the PTI about Khan’s condition and the party’s demand for access to his relatives and medical team. On Tuesday, PTI activists gathered outside the Supreme Court to protest the perceived lack of information, but the rally was called off after the court registrar assured leaders that all pending cases would be listed for hearing the following week.
Secretary general Salman Akram Raja said the party also seeks to allow Khan’s sisters and his personal doctors to see him. Khan, 73, has been incarcerated since his August 2023 arrest following a conviction in the Toshakhana case and continues to face multiple legal proceedings.
