JPJ to Require Only Registered Intermediaries for All Transactions Starting 2027

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) announced that from 2027 only agents registered on its new online platform may handle JPJ transactions.

At a press conference following an inspection of the upgraded Perlis JPJ office, director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said the upcoming requirement will limit JPJ transactions to registered intermediaries beginning in 2027. The registration process, launching on Nov 1, will be conducted through an online platform provided by JPJ, and each approved intermediary will be issued a digital identification document valid for two years.

Ramli emphasized that the department has no business relationship with any registered agent and that approval is not an endorsement of the services offered. JPJ will not be held responsible for any losses, fraud, extra charges or disputes that may occur between customers and private intermediaries. The public is urged to use official channels such as the MyJPJ app, the JPJ Public Portal, or service counters to avoid potential risks.

Why it matters

The rule seeks to protect consumers by ensuring only vetted agents handle official transport transactions.
