JPMorgan Chase files latest WARN notice, cutting 63 jobs at Jersey City office

JPMorgan Chase has lodged a new WARN filing with New Jersey officials, outlining the removal of 63 positions at its Jersey City branch, raising total layoffs this year to 541.

JPMorgan Chase submitted a fresh Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification to New Jersey employment regulators, specifying that 63 jobs at its Jersey City office will be terminated starting August 19 and extending to November 15. The filing marks the fifth WARN submission the bank has made this year, after earlier notices affecting 120, 134, 51 and 172 employees in February, March, May and July. Altogether, 541 positions have been eliminated at the Jersey City facility in 2026.

In a July statement, spokesperson Michael Fusco described the cuts as standard operational adjustments, noting the company regularly reviews staffing needs. Under the federal WARN Act, firms with workforces of 100 or more must provide at least 60 days' notice before large-scale layoffs or plant closures. The notice fulfills that legal requirement.

Why it matters

The layoffs affect hundreds of workers and reflect ongoing staffing adjustments at a major U.S. bank.
