JPMorgan's Turkish brokerage unit files to revoke its operating licence

JPMorgan Chase's securities arm in Turkey announced it will request the Capital Markets Board to cancel its brokerage licence, ending its market activities.

JPMorgan Chase's securities subsidiary in Turkey has submitted a public disclosure stating it will seek the cancellation of its brokerage licence from the Capital Markets Board. Approval would force the unit to halt its capital-market activities or alter its business model, effectively ending its status as a broker. The announcement omitted any reason for the decision.

Affected clients are required to provide court orders, enforcement records, or statements of account discrepancies within three months to safeguard their claims. The notice emphasizes protecting customer rights amid the change. At the end of 2025 the Turkish brokerage held about 67 million liras in assets and reported an operating loss near 7 million liras. The broader market has been under pressure, with the Borsa Istanbul 100 Index down more than 15% since mid-September.

Why it matters

The licence cancellation could reduce foreign brokerage presence and affect investors in Turkey's already volatile market.
