JR East to halt or cut multiple train services on Monday amid heavy rain
JR East announced that severe rain will force suspensions or reductions on several lines Monday, including the Yamagata Shinkansen and parts of the Tohoku and Joban routes.
JR East warned that Monday’s forecast of intense rain across the eastern and northeastern regions will compel the company to suspend or scale back operations on several key routes. The Yamagata Shinkansen bullet service linking Fukushima and Shinjo will be fully suspended from the first train. On the Tohoku Line, trains between Kuroiso in Tochigi Prefecture and Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture will either not run or run less frequently.
Limited-express trains on the Joban Line will be stopped between Katsuta in Ibaraki Prefecture and Sendai. The Tokaido Line segment from Odawara in Kanagawa Prefecture to Atami in Shizuoka Prefecture will be out of service from Sunday night until roughly 7 p.m. Monday, cancelling all Odoriko express trips. In central Tokyo, the Yamanote loop and other lines will run on a reduced timetable.
