Over 100,000 families of 9/11 victims have rallied against Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s planned attendance at the 25th-anniversary ceremony at Ground Zero, citing a petition that now has almost 110,000 signatures. The petition, launched by Giovanni Galante—whose wife Grace, 29, was killed in the attacks—accuses the mayor of failing to condemn controversial language and of ties to individuals with extremist backgrounds. Judge Adam Levy, son of Judith Sheindlin and host of the forthcoming TV court show “Adam’s Law,” has thrown his support behind the mourners, calling both the mayor and Governor Kathy Hochul hypocrites.
Protesters presented the petition to the chief of staff of Mamdani’s counsel after marching on City Hall. While the families plan to ignore Mamdani, the mayor has not announced any intention to withdraw from the September 11 memorial.
