Judge Declares Orlando Woman Competent to Face Murder Trial Over Rihanna Home Shooting

In a brief Los Angeles County hearing, Judge Maria Cavalluzzi declared that Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 36-year-old from Orlando, is mentally competent to stand trial for the March attack on Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's Beverly Hills residence. Ortiz, who pleaded not guilty, faces an attempted-murder charge plus over a dozen felony counts after allegedly firing at least 20 rounds from an AR-15-style rifle, damaging an Airstream trailer and a nursery wall where the couple's children were present.

Although no one was injured, prosecutors allege she drove a Tesla to the property and opened fire. After months of sealed psychiatric evaluations, the judge reinstated criminal proceedings, and Ortiz was returned to the regular docket. She appeared in handcuffs behind glass and did not speak during the hearing. A further court appearance is set for the following day, and a conviction on all counts could carry a life sentence.
