Judge Delays Hearing on Cher's Conservatorship Petition for Son Elijah Blue Allman

At a Los Angeles Superior Court hearing on September 1, Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui noted that Elijah Blue Allman had previously indicated a desire to represent himself, but the court required him to have counsel. With both Allman and his attorney Steven Brumer absent, the judge appointed new counsel and set a new hearing date for December 1. Cher had asked the court to postpone the California case for about 120 days as a New Hampshire court decides who will serve as Allman's guardian.

The New Hampshire guardianship, initiated by the state hospital in July, has already named half-brothers Chaz Bono and Devon Allman as potential guardians, while the role of Allman's wife Marieangela King remains contested. Cher maintains that a conservatorship may still be needed if the New Hampshire arrangement proves temporary, whereas King argues the existing guardianship and trust management are sufficient.
