Judge delays ruling on forfeiture of truck used in 2006 Mountie murders

A Saskatoon judge has postponed his decision on whether to seize Curtis Dagenais' 1986 GMC pickup, which was used in the 2006 shooting of two Mounties.

In a Saskatoon courtroom, Justice Daryl Labach announced that his ruling on the fate of Curtis Dagenais' 1986 GMC 1500 will be issued in December. The blue pickup, riddled with bullet holes and dents, was the vehicle Dagenais used during the July 2006 police chase that ended with the fatal shooting of Mounties Robin Cameron and Marc Bourdages near Mildred, Saskatchewan. A 2009 jury found Dagenais guilty of first-degree murder for the two deaths and of attempted murder for wounding a third officer.

The truck has been kept in storage at the RCMP headquarters in Regina ever since. The pending decision will determine whether the vehicle is forfeited to the Crown.
