Judge permits Halle Berry's son to testify in domestic-violence restraining order hearing

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled that Maceo, the 13-year-old son of Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez, may give limited testimony in a hearing on Martinez's request for a domestic-violence restraining order.

In a family-division case in Los Angeles, Judge Kaufman authorized 13-year-old Maceo Berry-Martinez to testify regarding the September 26 incident that led Olivier Martinez to file for a domestic-violence restraining order. The testimony will be confined to that specific issue and conducted in a closed courtroom with only the judge, lawyers, essential staff and the parents present. Berry contested the request, citing a 2024 order that forbids both parents from involving the child in ongoing litigation and accusing Martinez of coaching him.

Martinez argued that the child, as the primary victim, should be heard directly. The court had previously issued a temporary restraining order that reduced Berry's parenting time and imposed distance requirements on Martinez. The couple, who divorced in 2023 after an eight-year legal battle, share joint custody of Maceo, while Berry's older daughter Nahla Aubry supported her mother with a sworn declaration. The judge emphasized that any further custody matters will be addressed after the restraining order hearing concludes.
