Judge Tardón seeks communications and satellite data linked to Ceuta migrant surge
Judge Tardón has ordered the director of Ceuta's migrant reception centre and the CEO of HI IBERIA to provide any communications and satellite imagery related to the large influx of irregular migrants on the end of July 2026.
Judge Tardón is advancing an investigation that links the Ceuta migrant incursion to coordination from Morocco. She has summoned the director of the Centro de Estancia Temporal de Inmigrantes (CETI) to hand over any communications the centre exchanged about the massive entry of irregular migrants on the final days of July 2026, specifying dates, times, recipients and channels. The judge also demanded that the CEO of the tech firm HI IBERIA disclose every request for satellite imagery of the Ceuta-Morocco frontier made via the SEDA platform during the period surrounding the influx, and to name the public or private entities that placed those orders. Beyond communications, she ordered a comprehensive financial-patrimonial analysis of the mobilisation's funding, tasking the National Police's Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit, with possible assistance from SEPBLAC and the Guardia Civil's Central Operational Unit, to examine money flows, informal transfer systems and logistical expenses.
Why it matters
The inquiry could reveal cross-border coordination and financing behind a major migrant surge, affecting security and immigration policy.
