Judge who tried David Sánchez seeks victim status in Leire case over alleged PSOE sabotage

Judge Beatriz Biedma of Badajoz, who previously sent David Sánchez to trial over a suspected nepotistic appointment in the provincial council, filed a motion on Wednesday to be admitted as a harmed party in the Leire case. She claims that Leire Díez, identified as a "fontanera" within the PSOE, coordinated actions to undermine her investigative role. National Court judge Santiago Pedraz has referred the motion to the Fiscalía for a ruling on whether Biedma can join the case as a private accuser.

The allegations stem from statements that former PSOE organization secretary Santos Cerdán instructed Díez to attack multiple judges, naming Biedma and Juan Carlos Peinado, the latter overseeing the Begoña case involving Begoña Gómez, spouse of Pedro Sánchez. The request highlights ongoing tensions between the judiciary and political operatives in Spain. The prosecutor's response will determine if Biedma's claim will be formally incorporated into the proceedings.
