‘& Juliet’ musical to end Broadway run after four successful seasons

‘& Juliet’, a pop-song-driven reinterpretation of Shakespeare’s lovers, is set to give its final performance on Jan. 3, 2027, after completing 1,723 regular shows and 20 previews. Luke Sheppard directed the production while David West Read authored the book, and the score features chart-toppers by Max Martin performed by artists such as Kelly Clarkson and Britney Spears. Following an aborted West End run cut short by the pandemic, the musical opened on Broadway in 2022, shattered multiple box-office records at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre and became one of the few post-pandemic shows to fully recoup.

It has since toured profitably and been staged in 34 U.S. states and nine nations, including Germany, Canada and Singapore. Celebrity appearances—from TikTok star Charli D’Amelio to ‘N Sync’s Joey Fatone—kept tickets in demand, and producers estimate over 8,447 pounds of confetti will be tossed during its farewell. The show’s creators, Theresa Steele Page and Eva Price, highlighted its message of inclusion and second chances for the more than 1.5 million audience members who have seen it.
