Justice Department confiscates Hamas recruitment sites and $560,000 in crypto assets

The Justice Department reported that it has seized multiple internet domains that Hamas used to recruit members and raise money, along with $560,000 in cryptocurrency earmarked for the group. According to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, the investigation also yielded the names of thousands of individuals who tried to send funds to Hamas. Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg said the takedown deprives Hamas of resources that support recruitment, radicalization, and financing of attacks such as the October 7, 2023 assault.

Court filings revealed that an encrypted-platform group chat was linking supporters to a donation website that rotated crypto addresses. Pirro called the seizure a "massive blow against foreign terrorism" and warned that Hamas’s networks are vulnerable. The confiscated crypto was intended for the Al Qassam Brigade, Hamas’s military wing.
