Justice Minister attacks judge over iron letter protecting Marcin Romanowski

On Wednesday, the Warsaw District Court granted an iron letter to former MP Marcin Romanowski, meaning he cannot be detained if he returns to Poland. Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek sharply criticized the decision on X, labeling it an attempt to grant immunity to a person accused of major abuses in the Justice Fund and stating that the prosecutor will file an appeal. He also accused Judge Konrad Mielcarek of overstepping his role and reiterated that no one linked to Zbigniew Ziobro will be above the law.

Legal defender Bartosz Lewandowski countered, noting that the prosecutor did not seek the judge's disqualification and citing case law that allows iron letters even when the prosecutor objects.
