Justice Minister Bolaños Appeals CGPJ Dismissal of Complaint Against Judge Peinado

Justice Minister Félix Bolaños launched a formal appeal against the CGPJ’s filing of his complaint concerning judge Juan Carlos Peinado’s alleged intimidation during the Begoña Gómez investigation. In his submission, Bolaños blames the CGPJ’s inaction on “corporatism” and “conservatism,” claiming it falls short of the expected agility, rigor, and defense of the public interest. He notes that 427 days elapsed between his initial complaint and the dismissal, despite the matter involving clearly defined investigative steps.

Bolaños contends that Peinado’s demeanor was consistently hostile, not a fleeting tension, and that the judge’s actions have caused irreversible damage to the judiciary’s reputation. He asks for the disciplinary commission’s decision to be overturned, the case to be reopened, and additional investigative measures to clarify alleged leaks of judicial decisions. The appeal also seeks a pronouncement on conduct that could constitute disciplinary violations for judges and magistrates.
