In response to the ongoing Buwog email affair, Austria's Justice Ministry has urged the Wiener Anwaltskammer to consider disciplinary action against Dieter Böhmdorfer, the lawyer representing former finance minister Karl-Heinz Grasser. The scandal erupted after it emerged that Grasser’s defence attempted to reopen his conviction by presenting falsified emails allegedly showing bias by judge Marion Hohenecker. Those emails were supplied by a 60-year-old informant who lacked even a personal computer, and he now faces charges of defamation, forged evidence and serious commercial fraud.
