Kanlaon Volcano erupts, sending ash and sulfur smell over Negros Island
Kanlaon Volcano produced a moderate explosive eruption on Saturday, causing ashfall and a sulfuric odor in parts of the Negros Island Region.
The eruption began around 12:30 p.m. and lasted until about 12:48 p.m., launching plumes 5-6 km high that drifted north-northeast. Residents of several communities reported ash deposits and a strong sulfur smell.
