Kansas father, a registered sex offender, kills wife and four children before suicide
Ronald Williams shot his wife and four children in Winfield, Kansas, then called 911 to report the killings and died by self-inflicted gunshot.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation disclosed that Ronald Williams, a registered sex offender, opened fire on his wife Kelly George and their four children—Carol, 9; Ronald Jr., 7; Sarah, 5; and Kelly Magee-Williams, 3—at their Winfield residence shortly after 9 a.m. He subsequently placed a 911 call, confessing to the killings and indicating he planned to end his own life. Law enforcement reached the scene around 11 a.m., heard one gunshot, and discovered six individuals with gunshot injuries, including Williams, who had died from a self-inflicted wound.
Neighbors reported hearing the gunfire and expressed disbelief at the tragedy. Winfield Police Chief Robbie DeLong noted prior reports of Williams’ erratic behavior but said nothing predicted the outcome. Williams’ criminal record includes a 1998 conviction for attempted indecent liberties involving a minor, along with past charges for battery, attempted rape, burglary and drug offenses. The investigation remains ongoing.
