Kapital releases latest ranking of Norway's wealthiest individuals
Kapital has published its new list of Norway's richest people, covering residents, expatriates and former citizens, and aggregating family fortunes under a single name.
Kapital’s latest edition presents a comprehensive tally of Norway’s wealthiest, incorporating citizens at home, abroad and former nationals who have adopted new passports. Unlike official tax lists, the publication seeks to estimate true net worth and groups family holdings together, meaning the assets of Ole Robert and Magnus Reitan are added to their father Odd Reitan’s total. The top spot belongs to Cyprus-based shipowner John Fredriksen, whose empire spans Frontline tankers and salmon producer Mowi.
He is followed by cruise line founder Torstein Hagen, who recently took Viking public in New York, and industrialist Kjell Inge Røkke, whose Aker group now holds a major stake in data-center firm Nscale. Other notable entries include retailer Odd Reitan, hedge-fund manager Ole Andreas Halvorsen, and the country’s richest woman, Caroline Marie Hagen Kjos.
Why it matters
The ranking reveals the concentration of wealth in Norway and highlights the global reach of its top entrepreneurs.
