Karnataka chief minister launches multi-sector development plan for Kalyana Karnataka

Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced a package of investment, recruitment, health, infrastructure and tourism initiatives for Kalyana Karnataka at the 79th Utsav in Kalaburagi.

At the 79th Kalyana Karnataka Utsav, Chief Minister D K Shivakumar unveiled a comprehensive development package for the region. The government will set up the Kalyana Karnataka Economy Mission, a Section 8 company, to accelerate industrial investment, alongside a Bio Economy Mission focused on processing crops such as tur dal, bananas, raisins and millets. Health measures include a two-year anaemia-screening and treatment drive for vulnerable groups.

Infrastructure projects feature a 30-acre IT park, the Kalaburagi Research, Innovation and Youth Accelerator, AI-based CCTV coverage, a new flyover on the ring road, a peripheral ring-road study, and a ₹30 crore lake and park. Tourism plans propose a pilgrimage circuit connecting sites like Bahmani Fort, Khwaja Bande Nawaz Dargah and Buddha Vihar, with an initial ₹50 crore phase for Ganagapur. Sports upgrades will redevelop Chandrashekhar Patil Stadium and create a Sports City in Hadgil Haruti village, while a Koti Vriksha campaign aims to plant one crore saplings. Additional steps include a balancing reservoir for the Tungabhadra dam and recruitment for thousands of government posts, reserving a portion for local candidates.
