Karnataka electoral roll revision flags notices for Nilekani, Kamath and Shivarajkumar

Karnataka’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has produced notices for a small group of well-known voters. The Election Commission’s database flagged Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath and Kannada film star Shivarajkumar as unmapped compared with the 2002 roll, leading to generated notices, though it remains unconfirmed if they were formally delivered. A separate case involving Bharat Ratna awardee CNR Rao showed a name discrepancy, but the Booth Level Officer chose to retain his entry without issuing a notice.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority confirmed Rao received no notice and that the officer recommended his inclusion as a respected individual. For prominent voters, officials can complete verification at the person’s doorstep, which was applied in Shivarajkumar’s case. Ordinary voters, however, continue to face confusion over minor spelling differences and difficulties contacting election officials.
