Karnataka officials shut down Chairman’s Club kitchen over major hygiene breaches
Food safety inspectors in Bengaluru closed the Chairman’s Club kitchen in Sahakaranagar’s Dollars Colony after finding extensive violations, including 40 kg of expired chilli and improper food labeling.
A surprise inspection carried out on September 3 by the Karnataka Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration’s Food Safety Wing uncovered multiple infractions at the Chairman’s Club kitchen in Sahakaranagar’s Dollars Colony, Bengaluru. Officials confiscated 40 kg of expired chilli and identified labeling errors on 5 kg of bread crumbs and 2 kg of Sajeera food items, violating FSSAI rules. The inspection also revealed filthy preparation areas, the use of prohibited artificial colours, and the improper co-storage of vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods.
Citing these serious deficiencies, authorities ordered the immediate shutdown and seizure of the kitchen and indicated that legal proceedings would follow under the Food Safety and Standards Act. The department said it will continue rigorous inspections and enforce strict penalties on non-compliant food businesses.
