The severe flooding in Nepal has forced the government in Kathmandu to change its earlier decision and permit foreign specialist rescue crews to operate in the affected districts. This shift came after several countries urged the authorities to let their teams help locate survivors, especially as many of their nationals remain missing. India acted swiftly on Kathmandu's appeal, flying an 11-member team of doctors, paramedics and tunnel-rescue experts, and delivering a 10-tonne cargo that includes portable generators, dignity kits, food packets and water-purification tablets.
The humanitarian consignment marks India's third aid delivery to Nepal since the disaster began. Local officials say the scale of destruction continues to outstrip domestic capacity, heightening the need for external support. The Kathmandu one outlet reported the developments on Friday.
