KC Global Media Asia Completes First China Original Series ‘VIII: Awakening’ in Beijing
KC Global Media Asia has finished filming its debut Chinese original drama, “VIII: Awakening,” in Beijing, delivering a 24-episode season.
Production of “VIII: Awakening,” KC Global Media Asia’s inaugural original Chinese series, concluded in Beijing after completing 24 episodes of roughly 15 minutes each. The fantasy adventure reimagines a traditional Chinese legend, focusing on insurance investigator Lu Xian who awakens a precognitive power and learns he descends from an ancient guardian, prompting him to unite with seven companions against a imprisoned dragon clan.
The cast features Zhang Wan Ying as He Haining, Leo Zhou as Dong Fang Shuo, and Nick Shan as Lu Xian, under the direction of internet mid-form series specialist Yu Ji. Executive producers Andy Kaplan and George Chien, together with VP Bonnie Wiryani, emphasized the project's potential to evolve into a larger universe. The series was produced in partnership with CICC and Shanghai Qi’Ai Film & TV Culture, while KC Global Media Asia will handle global distribution.
