Kedah anti-corruption unit detains fertilizer supplier director amid supply delay probe

A Kedah magistrate issued a four-day remand order, extending to 16 September, after the anti-corruption commission filed a request. The male suspect, estimated to be in his thirties, was arrested around 2.30 p.m. the previous day while providing a statement at the SPRM Kedah office. SPRM Kedah director Nazli Rasyid Sulong confirmed the detention and said the investigation proceeds under Section 18 of the SPRM Act 2009.

The probe follows Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s directive for SPRM to examine the causes of fertilizer supply delays to farmers in the state. Earlier, the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry had ended the contract of a company responsible for delivering fertilizer to the Mada region, after media reports highlighted that roughly 40,000 of 60,000 farmers had not yet received the product.
