Kelantan businesswoman's near-RM500,000 Jeep seized in nationwide luxury-car crackdown
A Jeep Wrangler valued at about RM500,000 owned by a Kelantan businesswoman was among 3,790 luxury vehicles seized by the Road Transport Department in a nationwide Op Luxury operation.
Senior enforcement director Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said a near-RM500,000 Jeep Wrangler belonging to a well-known Kelantan entrepreneur was seized on Sept 24 in Jalan Taman Tengku Anis, Kota Baru, after authorities found its motor vehicle licence had expired. The seizure is part of Op Luxury, under which the Road Transport Department has confiscated 3,790 luxury vehicles nationwide between June 2025 and Sept 26, with an estimated total value of RM550 million.
The operation focuses on serious violations such as failure to renew road tax, insurance lapses and driving without a valid licence. Negri Sembilan recorded the highest number of seizures, followed by Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang. Investigations revealed that many owners, especially from the T20 income group—entrepreneurs, traders and influencers—had avoided tax renewal for years, sometimes because their vehicles were blacklisted for prior offences. The department also uncovered cases of duplicate registration numbers and collected roughly RM35 million in summons and licence payments last year.
