Kelantan Syariah Court Grants Conditional Divorce After Husband Stabs Wife Six Times
The Kelantan Syariah High Court confirmed a taklik divorce after a 47-year-old man admitted stabbing his wife six times, causing serious injuries.
In a hearing lasting about an hour, the Kelantan Syariah High Court upheld a taklik divorce after the defendant, a 47-year-old man, admitted to stabbing his wife six times on October 5. Judge Mohd Anwan Ab Muttalib cited a breach of Section 50 of the Kelantan Islamic Family Law Enactment 2002, which allows divorce when a conditional undertaking is violated. The plaintiff, a 44-year-old nurse who filed for divorce on September 21, is being treated for serious injuries at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II.
Represented by lawyer Sufian Zakaria of Hafiz Sufian & Co, she secured the court's decision in her favor. The husband, who arrived at the court in a green T-shirt and blue pants, remains in police remand since October 6 for the stabbing that occurred at their home in Kampung Padang Lepai.
