Kelly Ripa revealed on the podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa that an over-brushing habit caused gum recession, prompting a gum-graft surgery. She said the dental work involves transplanting tissue from her palate to the affected gum line and was advised to undergo it five years ago, but she delayed. Her husband, Mark Consuelos, disclosed the surgery on Live!
With Kelly and Mark, adding that doctors instructed her not to speak while healing. On the August 12 recording, Ripa discussed the need to keep stress low before the operation, knowing she would be mute during recovery.
