Ken Paxton launches student chapters at 11 Texas campuses to boost Senate campaign

Texas Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton launched a grassroots initiative that creates Students for Paxton chapters at eleven Texas colleges and universities, including Baylor, SMU, Texas Tech and UT-Austin. These chapters are designed to act as hubs for student recruitment, voter registration and community volunteering for the campaign. Student organizers such as Grace, president of the Baylor chapter, and Alexis of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley chapter expressed strong backing, highlighting Paxton’s stance on protecting life, immigration policy and border security.

The effort arrives amid a tightly contested Senate race against Democrat James Talarico, with recent polling giving Talarico a slight advantage but an Emerson College poll showing Paxton with a one-point lead among likely voters. President Donald Trump announced he will spend considerable time in Texas and endorsed Paxton, while the Republican National Committee scheduled a midterm convention in Dallas to energize Republican candidates statewide. The Talarico campaign declined to comment.
