Kentucky topples No. 9 Texas A&M with stout defense in SEC upset
Kentucky defeated ninth-ranked Texas A&M 31-21 at Kyle Field, snapping a two-year drought against ranked foes.
After a loss to Alabama, Kentucky rebounded by upsetting No. 9 Texas A&M 31-21 on Saturday in College Station. Kenny Minchey, a transfer from Notre Dame, delivered two passing scores, including a 42-yard strike to Kenny Darby early in the second half. Running back CJ Baxter added two rushing touchdowns, and a 52-yard field goal extended the lead. Defensive back Jordan Castell intercepted Reed late in the game, sealing the win. Coach Will Stein earned his first road conference victory, while Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko took responsibility for the defeat. Kentucky returns home next week to face South Alabama.
