Kerala Chief Minister highlights contradictory statements by Vijayan and Riyas on seized diary

During a press briefing, Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan pointed out that CPI veteran Pinarayi Vijayan and his son-in-law P A Mohamed Riyas made conflicting statements about a diary seized by the Enforcement Directorate in the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) bribery probe. One questioned the identity and contents of the diary, while the other asserted it detailed future business plans linked to Vijayan's daughter T Veena.
The Enforcement Directorate has written to Director General of Police Ravada A Chandrasekhar seeking an FIR against Vijayan, Veena, Riyas and several others, citing entries from a "red book" recovered during a search of Veena's rented residence. The agency claims the notes reveal money-laundering through hawala channels and payments of ₹2.78 crore to Veena's defunct firm Exalogic Solutions, allegedly as bribes. Satheesan said the state is conducting a careful legal review rather than a political one and will decide after thorough scrutiny. He urged the courts to handle the matter and declined to provide further details pending the investigation.
