Kerian Industrial City project aims for RM700 million development and 12,000 jobs

Kerian Industrial City, covering 116.15 hectares in northern Perak, is slated for a RM700 million gross development value and the creation of roughly 12,000 jobs.

Kerian Industrial City (KIC) will span 116.15 hectares in northern Perak and is projected to have a gross development value of RM700 million, generating about 12,000 jobs, according to the Perak State Development Corp. The project is intended to lure new investment, expand operations for industrial players and support service providers, thereby accelerating the district’s economic growth. PKNPk chief executive Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak said KIC will facilitate recruitment of engineers, technical staff and trainees, and enable applied research to meet private-sector needs.

State chief minister Saarian Mohamad framed the development as a strategic move to transition Kerian from an agriculture-based economy to higher-value industrial activities, in line with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan. The initiative sits alongside other state projects such as Automotive High Technology Valley, Lumut Maritime Industrial City, Silver Valley Technology Park and KIGIP. Asia Bina Group managing director Yong Chai Seng added that success will be measured not only by investment inflows but also by the participation of local suppliers and contractors in the industrial supply chain.
