Ketereh MP calls for veteran affairs to be run by qualified ex-service members
MP Khlir Mohd Nor urged that the veteran department be administered by qualified former soldiers to improve benefit delivery and reduce bureaucracy.
Khlir Mohd Nor, the Ketereh MP, proposed that the veteran affairs department be overseen by qualified former service members to enhance efficiency in handling veteran matters, including benefit and pension disbursements. He pointed to bureaucratic delays that have left ATM veterans waiting for assistance and urged the government to accelerate death-benefit payments to bereaved families. Nor also called for simplified hospital treatment for veterans through improved coordination between JHEV ATM and the Ministry of Health, noting reports of veterans being charged for services they should receive free of charge.
Additionally, he advocated for a one-off financial grant for Pingat Jasa Malaysia awardees, referencing a previous RM500 payment to recipients. The MP emphasized that veterans deserve proper support in recognition of their service and sacrifice for national security.
Why it matters
