Kevin Sinfield and Gareth Southgate kick off final leg of 7-day ultra-marathon for MND charities

Kevin Sinfield started the concluding segment of his week-long ultra-marathon, a challenge designed to raise money for motor neurone disease causes, with former England manager Gareth Southgate joining him on the course. Each day features a 7-kilometre segment that must be completed within an hour, plus an additional mile where Sinfield runs with members of the MND community. To date the event has attracted more than £500,800 in pledges, moving toward a £777,777 goal.

Six organisations - the MND Association, Leeds Hospitals Charity, My Name5 Doddie Foundation, Darby Rimmer Foundation, MND Scotland and the Irish MND Association - will receive the proceeds. The itinerary includes stops at the stadiums of all 12 Betfred Super League clubs, ending at Old Trafford ahead of the Grand Final, where Sinfield's son Jack will line up for Wakefield against Warrington. The run began at Hull KR’s Craven Park, passed through Hull FC’s MKM Stadium and Market Weighton, and the first day's finish was in Shiptonthorpe. Upcoming legs will take the team to York, the LNER Community Stadium, York Minster, York racecourse and finish at Bishopthorpe Palace.
