Karen Khachanov continued his strong form at the China Open in Beijing, overcoming Félix Augur-Aliassime 6-3, 6-3 in the tournament’s opening round. He secured the sole service break of the first set and broke again early in the second, sealing the match with a four-point streak at the end. The Russian’s victory builds on his recent U.S. Open semifinal appearance, where he was eliminated by eventual champion Alexander Zverv.

Auger-Aliassime, who earlier guided Canada to a Davis Cup win over France, struggled with eleven unforced errors. The match also set the stage for sixth-seeded Novak Djokovic’s first game of the event against Nuno Borges.
