Kia unveils large electric van PV7 at IAA Transportation to boost European market

Kia debuted its new large electric van PV7 at the IAA Transportation exhibition in Hanover, targeting growth in Europe's electric commercial-vehicle sector.

Kia announced the world debut of its large purpose-built electric van, the PV7, at the IAA Transportation fair in Hanover, occupying a 1,531-square-metre exhibition space with three PV7s and seven PV5s. The PV7 is the brand’s second dedicated PBV and is built on the E-GMP.S platform, offering a spacious interior for work, daily travel and leisure. Kia intends to roll the vehicle out to European buyers following the exhibition, adding to the PV5, which currently leads the C-segment electric van market with the highest sales share.

Data from Dataforce indicate that European electric light-commercial-vehicle registrations grew 10.2% year-on-year in the first half, while the overall light-commercial-vehicle market fell 8.7%. The mid-size electric van segment also expanded by 9.2% in the same period. Kia’s spokesperson said the PV7 will provide flexible space and new mobility experiences, reinforcing the company’s push in the continent’s electrified commercial-vehicle sector.
