Kidnap-and-murder suspect appears in court, pleads not guilty to father’s killing

Jianquan Bo faced a judge on Tuesday in Chino Hills, accompanied by an attorney and a translation device, and entered a not-guilty plea to charges of kidnapping and murder. Investigators allege that Bo and his 67-year-old brother, Zhengfeng Bo, cut power to Aikebaer’s residence, drew him outside, and Zhengfeng shot the father of three before forcing him into the trunk of their Nissan Altima. A neighbor’s 911 call enabled deputies to locate the car, leading to a brief pursuit and a traffic stop where officers were unaware of the victim inside.

Zhengfeng Bo then exited, opened the trunk and fatally shot Aikebaer, prompting deputies to return fire and kill Zhengfeng at the scene. The motive is believed to stem from a strained business relationship; Zhengfeng was CEO of Panshi Inc., while Aikebaer served as CFO and secretary. The case also touches on a separate lawsuit involving Panshi and Panoptic Development over a $20 million Pasadena apartment complex.
