Kim Joo-hyung wins Asian Games golf gold and secures military exemption
Kim Joo-hyung captured the men's individual gold at the Asian Games in Kasugai, while South Korea earned the team silver.
Kim Joo-hyung, a four-time PGA Tour winner, secured the men's individual gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games by shooting a six-under 64 in the closing round, ending the tournament at 18-under 262. The triumph also provides him with an exemption from South Korea’s compulsory military duty, a benefit previously enjoyed by fellow golfers Kim Si-woo and Im Sung-jae. The team event tallied the two best scores from each nation each day, and South Korea’s total of 26-under placed them in second place behind China, resulting in a team silver medal.
The competition took place at Kasugai Country Club East Course, located northeast of Nagoya. Kim’s performance adds to South Korea’s strong showing in golf at the regional multi-sport event.
