Kinergy wins RM47.5 million subcontract for US-linked hyperscale data centre in Port Dickson

Kinergy Advancement Bhd has been awarded a RM47.5 million subcontract by Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd to provide electrical services for a hyperscale data centre in Port Dickson, built for a United States-based technology company and due for completion in early 2028.

Kinergy Advancement Bhd secured a RM47.5 million subcontract from Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Gamuda Bhd, to deliver comprehensive electrical works for a hyperscale data centre in Port Dickson. The facility is being developed for a multinational technology firm headquartered in the United States, with a target completion date in the first quarter of 2028. The scope includes construction, testing, commissioning and all associated power-related services.

Datuk Dr Lai Keng Onn, Kinergy’s executive deputy chairman and group managing director, said the deal underscores the company’s growing recognition in high-specification infrastructure projects. He highlighted that the Malaysian Investment Development Authority reports RM95.8 billion in approved data-centre and cloud-computing investments for the first half of 2026, indicating a robust investment cycle. Kinergy expects the expanding scale and complexity of such projects to create further opportunities for specialised engineering services in the sector.

Why it matters

The contract illustrates rising demand for specialised engineering as Malaysia’s data-centre market expands rapidly.
