King Charles cautions that cyber-threat actors are adopting advanced automated tools

King Charles III wrote to the National Cyber Security Centre, warning that hostile online actors are increasingly using automated technologies to spread disinformation and threaten security.

To commemorate the National Cyber Security Centre's ten-year milestone, King Charles III sent a letter emphasizing that hostile online actors are evolving their tactics through the use of automated technologies, heightening risks to trust and security. He lauded the NCSC's achievements in defending the nation from cyber attacks, safeguarding democratic institutions, and protecting essential services. The monarch recalled his earlier discussion with AI leaders at Dumfries House, where he warned of the existential dangers posed by frontier AI models if misused.

He urged technology developers to ensure AI serves humanity, the community, and the environment. The letter arrived shortly after the NCSC stepped in to assist Asos following a breach that exposed detailed user profiles via the retailer's own app. These developments underscore the urgency of bolstering cyber resilience across public and private sectors.
