KKL-JNF bans parties at Nova memorial site during October 7 anniversary

Keren Kayemeth L'Israel-JNF announced that only remembrance visits will be allowed at the Nova site in the Re’im Forest around the October 7 anniversary, prohibiting any celebrations.

In the days leading up to the October 7 anniversary, Keren Kayemeth L'Israel-JNF stated that the Nova site within the Re’im Forest will serve only as a memorial area for visitors seeking to honor the victims. The fund, working with Israel Police and emergency responders, will deny any permits for events that are not expressly for remembrance, including parties, tents, overnight stays, amplified sound, and barbecues. Eyal Ostrovsky, the fund's chairman, warned that celebrating at the site would be as unacceptable as holding a party at Auschwitz, underscoring the need to respect the memory of the 378 civilians and security personnel killed there.

He noted that KKL-JNF has invested heavily in creating and maintaining the memorial, contrasting its efforts with the state's delayed action. All other activities inconsistent with the site's solemn character are also prohibited.
