Klopp meets Frankfurt's Younes Ebnoutalib, eyes him for Germany squad
Germany coach Jürgen Klopp visited Eintracht Frankfurt and held a lengthy talk with 22-year-old striker Younes Ebnoutalib, signaling interest in recruiting him for the national team.
New Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp paid a visit to Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, where club images captured him in conversation with multiple squad members, including rising striker Younes Ebnoutalib. Reports indicate Klopp engaged in an extended discussion with the 22-year-old and expressed a desire to persuade him to represent Germany. Ebnoutalib, born in Frankfurt to a German mother and a Moroccan father, remains eligible for the DFB and previously attended a Morocco U15 camp but has not yet featured at senior level.
His rapid rise began in early 2025 playing fourth-tier football for FC Gießen, then moving to SV Elversberg before earning a Bundesliga contract with Frankfurt. He opened the current season by scoring a hat-trick in a draw with Union Berlin. Klopp’s interest could force the forward to decide between the two national programs.
Why it matters
Klopp’s push for Ebnoutalib could shape Germany’s future attacking options and affect the player’s international allegiance.
