Knife-wielding student attacks teachers and student at primary school in Staškov
An eighth-grader brandished a knife at a primary school in Staškov, injuring a female pupil and two teachers, one of whom was airlifted to hospital.
Authorities intervened after an eighth-grade pupil attacked several people with a knife at a primary school in Staškov, located in the Čadca district. Emergency services reported that a female student sustained a shoulder injury, while one teacher was evacuated by helicopter to a medical facility and a second teacher is receiving life-saving treatment at the school. Police confirmed the situation is now under control and no immediate danger remains.
Two ground ambulances and two rescue helicopters were sent. Ministers responsible for interior, education and health are traveling to the location, and Education Minister Tomáš Drucker expressed solidarity with the victims and called for privacy for the families. Prosecutor Maroš Žilinka warned that the attack underscores a broader rise in societal aggression.
