Knifeman's 30-Minute Rampage Through Oakland Leaves One Dead, Four Hurt

On Monday evening, a man armed with a knife embarked on a 30-minute spree across Oakland, targeting multiple locations such as the Fruitvale BART station and Cesar Chavez Park. The first victim, found in the park, subsequently died, and four additional people were injured, with two in critical condition and two listed as stable. Residents who witnessed the attacks assisted police in tracking the assailant to an area near 39th Avenue, between International Boulevard and East 18th Street, where officers apprehended him.

The Oakland Police Department has not disclosed a possible motive or whether the attacker knew any of the victims. Investigators are urging anyone with photos, video, or other information to come forward. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about public safety in the city.
