Kookmin University signs MOU with Uzbekistan to boost AI and software cooperation

Kookmin University formalised a partnership with Uzbekistan's Ministry of Digital Technologies by signing an MOU at the Uzbek embassy in Seoul. The deal follows Deputy Minister Jamol Tilloyevich Makhsudov's campus visit on Sept. 10 and a meeting between President Jeong Seung-ryul and Minister Sherzod Shermatov, who was in Korea for the Korea-Central Asia Summit. Attended by the university's director of international affairs, Kim Byoung-joon, and Uzbekistan's ambassador Alisher Abdusalomov, the pact focuses on AI, software and other advanced technologies.

It aims to create practical cooperation models that connect academia, government and industry, fostering talent development and research exchanges. The agreement builds on Kookmin's existing collaboration with Tashkent University of Information Technologies and its role in co-hosting the 2024 International Conference on Information Science and Communications Technologies. Marking its 80th anniversary, the university cites the MOU as part of its KMU VISION 2035: EDGE strategy to expand global networks and nurture future-industry talent.
