Korean Air to shift Asiana bookings to its system in November before merger
Korean Air announced it will begin moving Asiana Airlines reservations and flight numbers to its platform starting early November, ahead of a full merger in December.
Korean Air Co. disclosed that it will start transferring Asiana Airlines' existing reservations and flight numbers to its own reservation system on Nov. 2, with the process running through Dec. 3. During this period, Asiana passengers will be re-booked under Korean Air flight numbers, replacing the OZ designator with KE. The migration applies to bookings for flights scheduled to depart on or after Dec. 17, when the two carriers are set to fully merge.
Korean Air said the staggered rollout is designed to minimise any inconvenience for travelers. The merger received shareholder approval in August, finalising a nearly six-year effort by Korean Air to acquire its rival.
