Koshi River floods submerge over 150 homes across Saptari district
Floodwaters from the Saptakoshi river have inundated 157 homes in Saptari, forcing families, especially children and the elderly, to move to higher ground.
Rising waters from the Saptakoshi river have swamped 157 houses in Saptari district, prompting evacuations to safer, higher terrain. In Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality, floodwaters entered 17 homes across wards 4 and 5, ruining food stocks and displacing families. Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality reported that 80 homes in ward 12 and 60 homes in ward 13 were flooded, with residents struggling to cook and find shelter.
The western embankment of the river became a refuge for children and elderly people. The border outpost of the Armed Police Force in Bodebarsain was also flooded. Local representatives, such as ward 6 chair Lalan Prasad Raut, have been conducting inspections and coordinating the distribution of essential supplies, while police chief Rupak Khadka confirmed the extent of the damage. Although river flow at the Koshi Barrage is receding, authorities remain cautious of further risk.
