Kovai Kings rout Trichy Grand Cholas, book spot in TNPL final
Kovai Kings defeated Trichy Grand Cholas by 84 runs, securing a place in the Tamil Nadu Premier League final.
In Qualifier 2 of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Premier League, Kovai Kings chose to bat after winning the toss and amassed a commanding 183/5 in their 20 overs. Trichy Grand Cholas could only muster 99 runs, losing five wickets without scoring. Deeban Lingesh produced a historic opening spell, claiming a hat-trick that sent three batsmen back for golden ducks and finishing with figures of 3/14, which also earned him the Player of the Match award.
Manimaran Siddharth contributed three wickets as well. The victory propels Kovai Kings into the championship match against Madurai Panthers, scheduled for August 28 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
